Paul Hawtin, who is a former City Trader, has founded a fund, Derwent Capital, that will employ trading strategies based on Twitter messages. The fund will be using ideas from the academic research published in 2010 that demonstrated that the sentiment manifested in Twitter messages has predictive value when it comes to stock prices.
