According to a loosely-organized apocalyptic Christian movement, May 21, 2011 will be the "end of days." On or about that same date, the price of oil in the United States will begin to climb to $4 a gallon, according to two savants of the oil industry.

The former is highly unlikely but the latter is very probable.

Richardson Electronics, Ltd. (NASDAQ: RELL) Board of Directors declared a $0.02 cash dividend per share to all holders of common stock and a $0.018 cash dividend per share to all holders of Class B common stock. The dividend will be payable on February 25, 2011, to all common stockholders of record on February 10, 2011.

Progress Energy's board of directors declared a dividend on the company's common stock. The quarterly dividend was declared at 62 cents per share, payable Feb. 1, 2011, to shareholders of record as of Jan. 10, 2011.

Roper Industries, Inc. (NYSE: ROP) Board of Directors has approved a quarterly cash dividend of $0.11 per share, payable on January 28, 2011, to stockholders of record as of January 7, 2011. This represents a 16% increase over the 2010 quarterly dividend of $0.0950 and marks the eighteenth consecutive year of increases in Roper's dividend.
