Over the past week, I have done a significant statistical project analyzing the correlation between P/E and stock price and PEG and stock price across the Dow 30 and have analyzed which stocks have the highest correlation between their price changes and their P/Es and PEGs.

Earnings season officially kicked off today with Alcoa’s $1.49/share loss versus last year’s $0.75/share profit in the same quarter. The market yawned at the news and share’s moved just 0.5% in aftermarket trading. We all know that earnings this quarter will be dismal. In fact, Thompson Reuters expects negative earnings growth in seven of 10 sectors it tracks.

Last time I checked, the world still needed food, the world’s grain silos were still low, the world’s arable land still shrinking, its nutrients depleting, and its population growing. I’m wary of the short-term volatility and noise, but I refuse to let go of the secular trends driving sustained, higher fertilizer prices.

This is my third iteration of an ongoing search for institutional buyers with a fundamental focus. They've been largely in cash for months now, and until they re-enter the markets, we're just not going higher.

This stock revolves around infant, toddlers, and juveniles. The company makes and distributes a vast array of branded goods which parents and guardians need for daily care of their loved ones. Experienced stock investors will appreciate the resilience of this business scope. Care for the young is above the vagaries of business cycles.
