** On its fourth-quarter fiscal 2011, IBM posted GAAP net income of $5.5 billion, a 4% increase year over year, and GAAP diluted earnings per share of $4.62, an 11% increase compared to the same period the prior year.

For the Full-Year 2011, IBM posted GAAP diluted earnings per share of $13.06, up 13% compared with full-year 2010.

International Business Machines (NYSE:IBM) scientists have developed a flexible, non-contact microfluidic probe made from silicon that can aid researchers and pathologists to investigate critical tissue samples accurately for drug discovery and disease diagnostics.

** Alphatec Holdings (ATEC) reported the Japanese launch of its Illico SE Posterior Fixation Percutaneous Screw System for minimally invasive surgery. ATEC recently received Shonin approval and will launch the system through its wholly owned subsidiary, Alphatec Pacific, and their respective distributors.
