WFT, Weatherford International Ltd.

** ExxonMobil Upstream Research Company reported that it has awarded WFT the first global license for the company's MazeFlo sand control screens for oil wells.

MazeFlo is a patented technology developed by ExxonMobil to improve the reliability of wells completed in sand-prone reservoirs.

First, the good news…

U.S. oil company ExxonMobil is reporting a “potentially significant” gas discovery off the coast of Vietnam, stating in a press release, "We can confirm ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Vietnam Limited drilled its second exploration well offshore Danang in August 2011 and encountered hydrocarbons."

Well that didn't take long. Even in the face of better job estimates crude oil bulls have already begun to show their "nervousness" as they trade oil down as low as 88.10 in the overnight session. GreenHouse Holdings, Inc. (OTCQB:GRHU) previously announced the signing of multiple contract awards for its Life Protection (LPI) Governmental Services Division, totaling $6 million. The recently acquired LPI subsidiary provides innovative training, support, design and construction of facilities and services to meet the needs of the U. S. Government, military, and law enforcement agencies.

I received another scratchy, crackling cell phone call from my drilling buddy in the Texas natural gas fields today. You could almost choke from the dust on the line.

He told me that the BP Gulf disaster was turning the fundamental assumptions of the oil industry upside down, and that sharply higher oil prices were in the cards, probably $100/barrel by year end.

The acquisition of a 9% stake in the Syncrude oil sands venture by China’s Sinopec for $4.65 billion – substantially more than expected – could pave the way for a revaluation of Canada’s vast deposits of a resource that is environmentally controversial.

Two competing projects for a natural gas pipeline from Alaska to the lower 48 states put the cost somewhere between $32 billion and $40 billion, even as the explosion of shale gas production calls the whole enterprise into question.

Chevron has acquired exploration rights for four shale gas concessions in southeastern Poland, the U.S. oil giant said in a recent SEC filing, joining other international companies in the hunt for unconventional gas reserves in Europe in the hopes of duplicating the production boom in the U.S.
