The head of the US central bank, Ben Bernanke, is preparing to give a key speech that will be closely watched by markets for any hint of new stimulus.

The U.S. Dollar fell against the major currencies after President Obama, during his State of the Union address, failed to convince executives and economists that he’s serious about controlling the U.S. budget deficit.

The U.S. Dollar is trading flat with a slight bias to the downside after yesterday’s upbeat Fed statement and last night’s State of the Union address from President Obama.

U.S. equity markets hemmed and hawed immediately after the FOMC announcement before rallying sharply higher. Traders seemed to have had a delayed reaction to upbeat news from the Fed regarding the economy.
