Uranium Boom in Kazakhstan

Posted by Oilprice.com on November 23rd, 2011

Kazakhstan’s international energy image is now that of one of the world’s rising oil exporters, an extraordinary feat given that, two decades ago its hydrocarbon output was beyond insignificant when the USSR collapsed. The vast Central Asian nation, larger than Western Europe, has now quietly passed another energy milestone.

While NATO members, led by France, piously proclaimed at the onset of their military offensive in Libya that their concerns were solely humanitarian, a covert tussle to gain a commanding lead in developing the country’s energy riches in light of Colonel Gaddafi’s departure is well underway.

The Cardium went "prime time" this week.

Iraq has the world's third largest oil reserves, after Saudi Arabia and Iran. Iraq's oil capacity could reach 12 million barrels per day (bpd) in six years.
According to oil pundits, Iraq would overtake Russia and challenge Saudi Arabia for the position of the world’s largest oil producer if a daily total of 12 million barrels was achieved.
