CNX Gas (CXG) released information on the productivity of horizontal versus vertical wells in the Marcellus Shale. A typical horizontal well in the Marcellus Shale has an initial production (IP) rate of 3.0 Mmcf per day, an Estimated Ultimate Recovery (EUR) of 3.0 Bcf, and costs $5.0 million.

Anadarko Petroleum (APC) has a major acreage position in the Marcellus Shale centered in Pennsylvania. The company has 600,000 gross acres and operates some of the acreage in a joint venture with Chesapeake Energy (CHK).

Chesapeake Energy's (CHK) stock price has been hammered over the past few months due to the bursting of the energy and commodities bubble. Also, some investors have voiced concern over CHK's high debt level. However, we see this sell-off as a great buying opportunity for patient investors.
