FTB FAQ

How to submit stories

Submitting stories is easy. Once you've registered and signed in, simply click on the 'submit a new story' link. This will take you to the submission page where you can enter the Title of the Article, Choose a Category, Add Tags to Your Story (so others can find it), Enter the Original URL of the Article (so the readers can read the full article), Create a brief description of the article, and let the rest of the community know whether or not you have a Vested Interest in the company you are writing about. Should you encounter a duplicate submission, please feed the original story and do not submit a duplicate entry.

How to get stories to the ‘What’s Hot In The Market’ page

Once a story is submitted it is posted in the New Stories section. This is a temporary holding place where stories wait to be promoted to the homepage. To help promote stories to the homepage, simply visit the New Stories section and feed the stories you think are the most useful. Once a story has received enough feeds, it is promoted to the ‘What’s Hot in the Market’ page. Should the story not receive enough feeds, surpass 20 days, or is reported, it eventually falls out of the New Stories section.

FeedTheBull (FTB) works because a large group of members actively feed (promote) good stories and report (remove) bad stories. Since FTB’s content is user-driven, it is up to YOU to contribute. FeedTheBull has created a “democratized collective intelligence” to give investors a Voice! in the market. The more participation there is on the site, the richer the content becomes and the closer we get to cutting through all of the “Bull” in the market.

How to remove a bad story (spam)

FTB gives moderation control back to the community. Should you run across any stories with bad links, off-topic content, or duplicate entries, please report them using the ‘Starve’ story feature. This will help keep the discussions on topic and allow only the best content to make it to the ‘What’s Hot’ section of the site.

How to find what a user has fed, submitted, and/or commented on

Every time you feed, submit, or comment on a story it is bookmarked and stored within your user profile under the tab “Track.” To visit your user profile, click the My Account tab at the top of the site. You can visit any other users profile by simply clicking on their name in the article they submitted.

What are User Points

User Points is a ranking system that gives every member points based on their participation on the site. Every time a member submits, votes, or comments on an article, they will receive points. This is to promote participation and to allow other members to easily seek out those that they can communicate, share ideas, and talk with. The more participation there is on the site, the richer the content becomes.

Submitting Content = 50 Points
Voting on an Article = 5 Points
Commenting on an Article = 10 Points
Article being Published = 50 Points
Referring a Friend = 2 Points
Friend Becoming a Member = 50 Points

How do I modify my Profile

Simply login to your account and click on the My Account tab on the top of the page. From there you will see your current profile and buddy list with three tabs (View, Edit, and Track). If you click on the “Edit” tab you will be able to edit your Account Settings, Investment Style, and Personal Information.

How to email a story

If you read a great article, you may want to share it with your friends. We have given each story an “Email this page” link. Simply click on the link and fill out your E-mail Address, Your Name, and Write any message that you like. Press send, and you have successfully shared the news.

What is Recent Activity?

Recent Activity is a real-time snapshot of the sites activity (feeds, submissions, reports, and comments). It allows users to easily find interesting content (feeds/submissions) that is being voted and commented on and popular discussions (comments) around an article.

What is a Tag Cloud?

A Tag Cloud is a visual representation of popular story tags. Browsing story tags gives a depiction of top tags in stories. Story Tags grow in size by the number of feeds it has. This allows you to easily find the most discussed topics.

I submitted a story and now it's gone, where is it?

Newly submitted stories live in the New Stories section for 20 days. After this time has elapsed, if the story has not been promoted to the homepage (become popular), the story falls out of the queue. Stories can also be removed by users with the ‘Starve’ story feature within FTB. Once a story receives enough ‘starved’ votes it is automatically removed.

Are blog posts okay to submit as stories on FTB?

Blog posts are great, as long as the story is not plagiarized. However, if any URL within FTB is consistently flagged as SPAM by the Bull community, that URL will be blocked from submission. See a definition of plagiarism.
