Microsoft Withdraws Its Bid for Yahoo

 

New York Times - Microsoft said it was abandoning its blockbuster bid to acquire Yahoo after the two companies could not agree on a price. At the meeting, which also included Yahoo’s other co-founder, David Filo, and Kevin Johnson of Microsoft, Mr. Ballmer increased Microsoft’s offer to $33 a share, but Mr. Yang said Yahoo would not sell for less than $37 a share.

Yahoo! is already getting a lot of pressure from their investors. If Yahoo! can't create some value for their shareholders, then they aren't being fiducially responsible and there should be a management change.

Drat! I forgot to link to my blog entry. Thanks for the timing thing, though. $22 is about right, actually, but only if the Google Ad deal comes through. If that fails, it'll end up somewhere around $18 to $19. And this ain't over yet. Yahoo will be under tremendous pressure to reopen the deal now.
