To some extent the market is very intertwined with the media. There are many investors out there that play the hype, play the headlines, and are not doing their DD (not saying I agree or disagree with the strategy). That being said, when the media is out there selling their Dooms Day scenarios, the people that haven't done their DD or are playing the headlines are going to bail out, which is a rippling effect.
