There are thousands of books on how to better pick stocks and how to buy stocks, but never really many on how to sell them. Looking back at my experiences in investing, I rarely made out and out losing picks. Instead, it was more a matter of not selling correctly to capture profits. In this post, I look at how to develop a sell strategy and the most important aspects of a strong sell strategy. It's my opinion that, in the end, a good sell strategy is not about maximizing profits on each trade, but about protecting the profits in your overall portfolio.
