Betonmarkets.com Morning Report (7th August 08)
Please find below the Morning Report from David Evans, market analyst at BetOnMarkets.com
The FTSE is currently indicating a flat opening as traders are waiting for the BOE interest rate decision at 11am. While no move is expected most people are going to stay on the sidelines as there is risk for a surprise rate cut. The FTSE would benefit from that move, possibly copying the gains made by its US counterpart when the FOMC hinted at a rate move later this year.
Oil found some support around the 118 dollar per barrel mark, and a retrace back to $125 is possible. This could all be wiped out if the strength of the US dollar continues. The British Pound lost more then 4 cents in the last few weeks, and is poised for further losses if the BOE hints at a rate cut.
