The FTSE is currently indicating a slightly higher opening, while the market awaits the testimony of Mr.Bernanke before the US senate committee. While this is US news, its repercussions will have no borders. Look for volatility to pick up towards the end of the trading day.

Oil demand dropped to its lowest point in 5 years and yet it had no effect on the prices of oil. The culprit is the US dollar, which has been beaten up ever since the bailout has been made public. Look for the price of oil to stabilize over the next few days and possibly finish the week near the 110 dollars per barrel level.
