According to a SeekingAlpha alert that I received, Microsoft said Tuesday that it will offer
$1.2 billion in cash for Fast Search and Transfer, a big player in the enterprise search market.

The move is sure to shake up the enterprise search market, which thus far has been dominated by a series of smaller players like FAST, Autonomy and Vivisimo. Google has made some inroads, but for

Intel Corp. posted a 51% surge in fourth-quarter profit but sounded a cautious note about business conditions in the first quarter and the rest of the year.

The forecast by the giant chip maker, whose results are seen as a gauge for global technology demand, sent its shares down more than 14% in after-hours trading.

EMC On A Comeback

Recently Cramer noted that his favorite comeback tech stock is EMC. It is down more than 34% since October and should benefit from its huge stake in VMware once it can begin selling stock in February. Cramer also notes that he likes the company’s international exposure and the company’s new flash-based products.
