Tough Times for Corporate Software Spending
Excerpt - "An April 8-15 ChangeWave corporate spending trends survey shows a deterioration in 2nd Quarter software purchases with little relief in sight. But there's good news on the Virtualization front - with strikingly upbeat findings for VMware (VMW) and good indications of momentum for Citrix (CTXS)."

Another Bullish Day Equals Another Great Day For Our Longs
Today was yet another day where the market did not do much but our longs crushed it. This time it was our recent solar stock purchases. This continues a very bullish pattern of where everything I buy continues to move higher. Once again, tonight there are four new longs and zero full sells. This has been a recurring theme and is a theme of any bullish market. Higher volume or not.

Garmin: Growth at a Reasonable Price?
Garmin is the dominant player in the fast growing GPS market. The company has delivered nearly 50% annual earnings growth since 2003, and is expected to grow at 17% per year going forward. With it's current 11 P/E, is Garmin a textbook example of growth at a reasonable price?

Bullish Week Ends With Mixed Trading On The Major Market Indexes; Individual Stocks Are Starting To Look Real Good
It was another overall boring session to end the week but despite the overall boring tone to Friday’s session it was still a bullish session underneath as many stocks had solid sessions and many stocks that I was long had a very positive session. This kind of action on a do nothing day is just what I like to see in a market that refuses to do much.

Microsoft misses
Well, well, Macs post near 51% unit growth and Microsoft misses on earnings which leads to questions on Vista induction and questions on the strength of the Office and Windows franchises. Granted shares are still likely valuable given the dilution in share prices due to the Yahoo rumors. But, it may make sense for Microsoft to go back and focus on their core business here.

Nasdaq Leads The Way Higher On Slightly Higher Volume As Semiconductor Stocks Account For Much Of The Gains; AAPL Disappoints
It was another typical day that we have seen recently where not a lot gets accomplished and we pretty much just give back whatever happened the day before in the opposite direction. Still, I do believe, that today’s gains coming with higher volume is a positive overall.

Making Money Online
A great video featuring David Hansson of 37Signals, creator of Ruby on Rails. He discusses how to create viable internet businesses that are sustainable even without VCs or the hope of a buyout. Facebook could learn a thing or two from his insights on monetization.

Apple Downgraded, Not all the analysts are bullish
Morgan Keegan downgraded Apple to underweight today due to caution over the very quick bounce the stock has faced. This brings good points. Despite optimism over a 3G iPhone and improving margins, the macroeconomic slowdown is in place and it is too be seen whether or not a full recession will create more multiple contraction particularly in a high flyer like Apple.

Apple, Tech Firm or Not?
A more "fundamental" look at Apple's corporate strategy and long term growth story. I believe the company is currently miscast as a tech leader and is more a consumer products retailer that has been riding an ability to make trends ala Gap of the late 1980s and mid 1990s.

Brain Gyms?
It's 1 p.m. at the Heritage Estates' Brain Gym in Livermore, California, and the gym rats are starting their workout.
Dorothy Emmrich, age 100, straps on a headset and glares at a computer screen showing rows of playing cards. Each makes a different sound when she clicks on it. She searches for pairs that make matching sounds, a classic memory game.
Google CEO Eric Schmidt Interview
"When Google founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page wanted a C.E.O. for their rapidly growing company in 2001, they turned to a technology executive, Eric Schmidt, who had previously worked at Sun Microsystems and Novell. Coincidentally, Yahoo co-founders Jerry Yang and David Filo were also looking for a C.E.O. that year, and they picked a Hollywood insider: Terry Semel, who had run Warner Bros."

Stocks Reverse Hard Selling Off All Session Into The Close, Closing Near The LOD; Lower Volume Eases Selling Pressure
The morning got off to a good start as the indexes gapped higher and started off strong right out of the gate, with the Nasdaq leading the way higher with a 1% gain. After that, sadly for the bulls, it was nothing but a slightly choppy ride lower with the market selling off the entire way lower with the 1% gain in the Nassy turning into a .9% loss by the EOD.
