Avalon Rare Metals (AVL:AMEX) Avalon is obviously more speculative than Molycorp (MCP:NYSE). However, AVL’s percentage fluctuations attract spec traders when MCP moves. On a technical basis, AVL is currently sitting on a pretty nice level of support, but if it breaks, a violation of $6 is possible.
Ishares Barclays 20 yr Treasury ETF (TLT:NTSE) This bond ETF is a favorite of prop and day traders who are looking for quick bond market exposure. Shares of TLT were off a less than 1.5% on Thursday which is a big move for a Treasury based ETF. Regardless of your bias, TLT is a great way to play the current U.S. political volatility. Remember, if you have a short bias shares of TLT are often hard to borrow.
