A headline on BNN caught my eye this morning: “ Kazakh Government to Borrow $1 Billion to Ease Deficit”. Now admittedly, the quality of the English in these “tickers” which scroll across our screens leaves much to be desired. However, one would hope that the concept of not being able to “ease” a deficit by borrowing more money would be so obvious that such a mistake could not be made.

Had this only been an isolated incident, I might have dismissed this as a single mind clouded by an overdose of Christmas turkey. However, this is far from being an isolated example. Only a few weeks earlier, the parrots in the U.S. media were all dutifully reporting the latest musings of the Obama regime: that “unused TARP funds” may be used to “reduce the U.S. deficit”.
